His process is both accidental and deliberate. By adjusting the ratio of paint to liquid, he creates surfaces with varying gloss levels, making some areas of the canvas appear freshly painted. His bold and rapid brushstrokes swirl and fragment into colors reminiscent of mountains, rocks, waterfalls, trees, and grass. These organic surfaces evoke the sensation of humidity, wind, and the scent of wood, crafting a hallucinatory scene.
Chung Sang Gon channels the emotions drawn from nature onto the canvas. He explores the two-dimensionality of the canvas while delving into the profound emotions that can be discovered through the grandeur of nature’s force.
