The generation of Shona sculptors is divided into each generation based entirely
on the period in which they began carving, not their age. The first generation
deals with a period of about 10 to 25 years for each generation since the
1950s to 1970s, the second generation from the 1980s to the 1990s, the third
generation from about 1991 to 2000, and the fourth generation from 2000 to
2000. The current generation is active in the second, third, and fourth
generations. They are active on stages all over the world, including Europe,
North America, and East Asia.

As for the material of his work, he likes to work with Cobalt, Opal, Serpentine
Stone, and Verdite Stone. Melody Pombe is recognized for her active work
among the fourth generation of showa sculptors.

About the author

Melody was born in 1981 in Mrehwa, Zimbabwe. He and his brother also
started art from an early age and grew up as artists, as his father worked as
artists. He learned how to carve since he was 9. And by the age of 20, he left
to work with great artists, such as Kennedy Musekiwa, Lamerk Bonji, Gladman
Zinyeka, and Tendai Lukodzi. In 2009, he worked at the Chitungwiza Art Center,
where he created mostly figure sculptures and abstract paintings. Melody is a
rising new generation of sculptors who express the rich emotional feeling
directly into their sculptures. His works are on display all over the world, and he
wants to remain a better and more famous artist than now.
