About the author

Edward Saidi Tinga Tinga was a Tanzanian writer who was born in 1932 and
was active in Tanzania, and was the founder of the style of African
contemporary art tinga painting. With the theme of what can be seen in nature,
such as the big five of safaris (elephants, lions, rhinos, buffaloes, and leopards),
tinga Tinga art was recognized for its colorful, surreal, and humorous painting
style.

Through the extensive movement of the artist's students after the artist's death,
the tingattinga painting style became the forerunner of African contemporary
art. World-renowned Tanzanian painter George Lilanga also performed the art of
the lilanga style under the influence of Tingatinga, and his vivid color and
abstract expression of nature inspired prominent artists such as Pablo Picasso,
Henri Matisse, and Amadeomo Dilliani.
