Arts and Code Drawing Series
Description of the work
- Media Pen / pencil and aquarella on paper
- Location LOTTE HOTEL SEOUL MAIN TOWER 1F
The works presented here are drawings from her series 《Arts and Code》, inspired by artifacts from prehistoric times through the Goryeo period. These pieces reinterpret the primordial aesthetics of abstract straight and curved patterns found on historical relics, recasting them through a contemporary visual vocabulary. Kim notes that the patterns on objects such as roof tiles, shoes, and mirrors - items that have survived for thousands of years - are not merely decorative. Kim creates a unique abstract language that bridges past and present, offering a renewed interpretation of Korean traditional art and ancient cultural heritage. The series exemplifies her continued commitment to expanding the possibilities of contemporary abstraction while grounding it in history and cultural memory.
