This piece of work contain the message of happiness. Using motifs like the Lotus and Peony flower found in traditional objects d'art, the artist emulates a folk style of painting in order to imply very basic human desires: the work has themes of prosperity, happiness, and birth. in this way we can interpret the deliberate use of decorative lavishness as a direct homage to the grand themes of true happiness, and ine meaning of life.

About the author

Okkyung Eom is an artist who uses materials from Western painting to express moments of simple happiness encountered in daily life through traditional Korean techniques. She primarily employs the traditional five cardinal colors (Obangsaek) and often depicts peonies and lotuses, which symbolize comfort, healing, and communication. The artist hopes that through her works, viewers will recognize the happiness that still exists beyond the rain and behind the clouds.

Eom has held numerous solo and group exhibitions and has been actively creating and showcasing her work for many years in both Seoul and Beijing.
