Description of the work

  • Media Acrylic and Acrylic pen on wall
  • Location L7MYEONGDONG SUITE ROOM 'LOURBANS'
'L7 in the Myeong-dong' captures Myeong-dong, a place where Seoul’s history and modernity coexist, through the observant and documentary gaze of artist Seol Dongju. At the center of the composition are the street stalls and buildings surrounding the Myeong-dong Theater, while the artist also incorporates the distant view of Namsan and Seoul Tower, which in reality are situated in the opposite direction. The work further depicts people of diverse nationalities, ages, and genders, reflecting how travelers from around the world converge in Myeong-dong and create a lively atmosphere.
Through this reconfigured scene, the artist presents the everyday vibrancy and layered qualities of the urban landscape within a single frame.

About the author

Seol Dongju is an artist who finds beauty in the layered landscapes and fleeting moments of the city. Through careful observation, she captures the unnoticed fragments of urban life—passing street scenes, abandoned objects, and unfamiliar structures—and reinterprets them into her own unique visual language using pen and camera. Based in Seoul, Seol explores the city through processes of observation, collection, and documentation. Her work translates the subtle traces of time and emotion embedded in the ever-changing urban surface into simplified lines and forms, offering viewers a new, unfamiliar perspective on the everyday.
